Sori Yanagi was a renowned Japanese industrial designer whose work spanned from elegant white porcelain tableware to the iconic Olympic cauldron for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Games. Among his most celebrated creations is the Butterfly Stool, a masterpiece of form and function. First designed in 1954, it was selected in 1958 for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and is now housed in major museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Museum. Yanagi's designs continue to inspire with their seamless blend of Japanese tradition and modern innovation.
