iwakagu is a woodwork studio based in shizuoka, Japan. Iwakagu use obstructive trees to make their works.

"Obstructive trees," collected from the local area in Shizuoka.

"Obstructive trees" are trees that obstruct buildings or traffic or have fallen due to natural disasters. These materials are not normally used for woodworking due to their unevenness and other reasons. However, the unique expression of wood is created because it has grown naturally in the town. The wood is sliced by skilled veneer craftsman so thin that it can be seen through, and is pasted together to create a thin, light, and long-lasting wood piece.

To use these unique resources, the obstructive trees are reborn for the nice daily use of wood tools and useful items.
